Myotherapy is a system of health care
primarily focusing on assessment,
treatment and rehabilitation of
musculoskeletal pain. Myotherapy is
generally used in the treatment of acute
and chronic conditions as well as
preventive management.
You would consult a Myotherapist if
you’re suffering with general or physical
activity related soreness, acute or
chronic pain or movement problems and
stiffness. Myotherapist’s work in the
preventative, corrective and
rehabilitative phases of therapy.
You may consult a myotherapist for any
of the following conditions:
Lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder
pain, knee pain, hip pain, sports related
injuries, pre and post-natal care, arthritis
related pain, chronic conditions such as
fibromyalgia.
They are traditionally known for a
strong focus on, and excellent use
of hands on techniques including –
myofascial release, soft tissue and
joint mobilisation. These techniques
are particularly useful for
conditions involving muscles,
tendons, ligaments and fascia,
especially those where pain, limited
range of motion, and/or reduced
function are part of the picture.
