It’s hard to believe another year has 昀氀own by! As 2023 draws to a sunny
close, we are grateful to our wonderful members and team for making
Next Gen Doncaster a wonderful place to be.
With School Holidays, Christmas and a New Year on the horizon we know
that December can be a busy time of year. It is more important than ever to
look after your health and wellbeing during these periods. We’ll be here to
help you unwind after long days of Christmas shopping and preparations.
Need a place to bring the kids to swim, play and eat? We have them all
right here for you!
Your health and 昀椀tness can easily slip to the bottom of your priority list
with that niggling voice in your head saying ‘there’s always the New Year’.
We encourage you to push it aside – healthy habits are formed by staying
consistent! Rain, hail or sunshine- set yourself up for success in 2024.
We look forward to joining you on that journey.

KIDS AND WATER
Did you know, up to 1 in 3 child
related drownings in Australia occur
as a result of lapses in supervision
from a primary caregiver?
Here at Next Gen, children under
the age of 14 must be actively
supervised at all times by a
responsible adult carer or parent
– including during swimming
lessons.
Leaving
children
unattended in our pool area while
going for a workout or visiting the
cafe is not permitted. Adequate
supervision of children in and
around the pool is of paramount
importance to ensure their safety
and prevent potential dangers.
Pools present a unique set of risks,
and effective supervision is the 昀椀rst
line of defence against accidents.
Children can be
unpredictable
and
even
a
momentary pause in attention can
lead to serious consequences.
Distractions such as engaging in
conversations, using electronic
devices or being preoccupied with
other tasks can divert attention
away from the pool area. It’s crucial
for the primary caregiver to remain
vigilant and focused, actively
watching for any signs of distress
or unsafe behaviour. Drowning can
happen quickly and silently, making
constant supervision essential. By
prioritising diligent supervision,
being
aware
of
potential
distractions and understanding
the inherent dangers associated
with pool environments, caregivers
can create a safer environment for
children to enjoy aquatic activities.
